A photographers ability to understand and use the light, literally makes or breaks portrait photography. Understanding the subject and his/her pose also do world of good for a photographer. The face and expression of the subject are of utmost importance when taking a portrait. Grayscale photography mostly known as black-and-white photography is mainly composed of shades of gray. Many a times Grayscale are also known as monochromatic photographs because of the presence of one color in the image.
Photography of portaits along with Grayscale makes for a delicious combination. It has all the ingredients expression, contact, lighting, candidness, various compositions, etc. that a photographer wants in its portfolio. The focus is mainly on the eyes and the facial expressions get caught in the process.

The great thing about grey-scale photography is that once the distracting color information has been removed from the image, more focus (from the viewer’s point of view) is automatically placed on the subject – while raising the sense of drama or mood in the photograph as well.
B&W Photography offers photographers the chance to explore the mediums many aspects including:
*Versatility – you can use it in portraits, landscapes, architecture, etc.
*No distractions – as explained above
*Tonal Subtleties – they become more pronounced in grey-scales
*Variety – images can be strong (high contrast & powerful) or soft, gentle & subtle.
Personally, I love the creating B&W images and discovering how great color photos can have even more impact when converted to grey-scales.

Great photos. It is amazing how photogenic Megan is. She looks so different on every shoot. I think Natalie Portman photo is my favourite here. Great compilation. Black and white are definitely my favourite.
